Nanophotonics

Recent progress of nanotechnology has led to the possibility to generate, control and manipulate with electromagnetic fields on the nanoscale. Nanophotonics has revealed new optical phenomena, which open novel and rapidly developing fields of plasmonics, photonic crystals and metamaterials. The last decades have seen explosive growth in the field, from fundamental research to applications exploiting unique optical properties.

At the Nanophotonics research group at SDU NanoSYD, the emphasis is given to basic research as well as development of key nanophotonic technologies for hybrid high-performance and industry-ready opto-electronic devices. This includes state-of-the-art fabrication and characterization techniques such as Helium ion microscopy and laser scanning microscopy/spectroscopy.
