Get an intern

An intern is included as part of your organisation for 3–6 months between 2–5 days a week. The exact duration and working hours vary between courses and depend on concurrent tuition, ECTS credits and other commitments.

The internship period follows the semesters and therefore usually starts on 1 February or 1 September.

The internship is part of the student's education and must be approved by the University. Internships can also be called ‘project-oriented course’, ‘in-company period’, etc.

An intern comes with a fresh and curious pair of eyes on the organisation, work tasks and processes, as well as the latest knowledge and expertise obtained during his/her education.

An intern can, for example, work on tasks or projects that you would not otherwise have the resources to undertake, including:

• Drawing up a strategy for a new business area
• Developing branding and marketing strategies
• Collecting and analysing data for use by a project team
• Developing and implementing new digital working methods
• Being the innovative contribution to the administration team
• Developing production optimisations
• Introducing LEAN in the production hall

With an intern, you gain an employee who is eager to learn and contribute, and a good internship often leads to long-term collaborations, such as student jobs, master’s theses or employment upon graduation.

It’s a good idea to post internships in the autumn semester in April, and post internships in the spring semester in October.

The practicalities
You need to provide a work station and the necessary equipment.

The intern is in the company for a short period of time, so the more thorough your introduction to tasks, routines, etc., the sooner the intern can contribute.

Allow the intern to become part of the workplace, and involve him/her in your daily life and social life, so that the intern gets a good insight into both the organisation and working life in general.

Salary
The internship is basically unpaid, as the student gets SU.

You are allowed to cover expenses such as transport costs and provide a gratuity of up to DKK 3,375 per month.

Contact/supervisor
You must provide a contact person or an internship supervisor the intern can soundboard with during the internship. We recommend that the contact person has an education equivalent to that of the intern.

Contract
The student is responsible for designing the internship contract based on the rules of the education. You will receive a copy that you must sign. The student can get a privacy statement/NDA through their supervisor – please remember to ask for it if you need it.
