Entry requirements

The Master's programme in degree in Web Communication Design you need a relevant Bachelor's degree. 
You can apply if you hold one of the following Bachelor degrees:

  • International Business Communication with English, IT and Digital Communication (previously International Business Communication with English, IT and Web Communication from SDU) - gives you a legal claim for admission
  • Digital design, Interaction Design and IT (previously Information Science, Information Technology and Interaction Design) from SDU - gives you a legal claim for admission
  • Library Science, IT and Communication (previously Library Science and Knowledge Communication) from SDU - gives you a legal claim for admission

You can also apply for admission to this programme if you have another Bachelor’s degree, professional Bachelor’s degree or another degree on the same level (European Qualification Framework level 6). There are no requirements for specific subject areas.

IT knowledge

You are expected to have basic knowledge of HTML and CSS before you commence the programme. This may be from courses in your Bachelor's, but it is also possible to obtain this knowledge through online tutorials, e.g. w3schools.com.

English language requirements

The programme is taught in English. If your Bachelor’s degree is not from SDU, you are required to submit proof of your proficiency in English. See the English language requirements.

Statement of academic interest

As a part of your application, you must include a statement of academic interest in English, which contains the following:

  • Account of the relevance of your Bachelor’s degree in regard to the Master’s programme
  • Account of the relevance of any occupational experience in regard to the Master’s programme
  • Account of the relevance of other experience in regard to the Master’s programme
  • Account of the knowledge you have about certain areas with relevance to the Master’s programme

The statement of academic interest must not exceed 2 pages.

Selection criteria

There is a limited number of study places in the programme.

If there are more qualified applicants than study places, the following criteria are used for the selection of applicants without a legal claim. Each criterion is weighted 50%.

  • The grade point average of your qualifying degree

    - If the degree is not completed at the time of application, the grade point average is calculated based on the courses passed at the time of application.

  • Statement of academic interest 

As a Bachelor student at SDU, you can apply for permission to follow up to 30 ECTS Master-level courses even though you have yet to complete your Bachelor’s degree.

You can be granted permission if you have the necessary academic qualifications. The progression of your Bachelor’s programme is crucial to the outcome of your application.

Have you completed a Master’s programme?

If you’ve already obtained a Master’s degree, you can only be admitted to a new Master’s programme if there are vacant study places in the programme.

As long as you do not hold a Master’s degree, you are free to apply for admission to a new programme.
