Qualification requirements:

PhD level.

Job content:

Research and research-based teaching.

Period of employment:

Maximum 8 years, appointments of up to 4 years duration - 5 years in the clinical field.

Opportunity for part-time employment.

Expectations for assistant professor

Research

  • Must be able to develop own research profile (methodological, subject area, theme, etc.) in accordance with the department's/unit's strategy
  • Must possess analytical skills in specific research areas with potential to shape the research agenda in scientific environments
  • Scientific articles and book chapters are published in registered series and according to Bibliometric Research Indicator (BFI) lists, preferably as the first author in series and publishers at level 2 or 3
  • Participation in national and international networks, research associations and scientific debates with potential for acknowledgement in the field of research
  • Experience with management of research projects and co-supervision of PhD studies
  • Experience with external funding (eg as a co-applicant), and demonstration of potential for successful fundraising of smaller projects. Main or co-applicant on at least one grant application per year

Education

  • Pedagogical education: Accomplish SDU’s postgraduate teaching training course with documentation for own teaching development
  • Experiences with teaching at different levels documented by positive student evaluations
  • Experience with supervision and examination of bachelor's and master's students
  • Experience with educational management and / or course development and coordination
  • By appointment provide working hours related to teaching
  • Updated teaching portfolio

Service to the community

  • Communicates research-based knowledge relevant to specific areas
  • Ability to innovate research dissemination and outreach activities
  • Has a visible role in relevant scientific communities nationally and internationally

Administration

  • Participates in relevant committees in the unit and at the department/faculty
  • General administrative tasks at department level (eg registration, budgeting, financial management)

Personal capacity

  • Engagement in the department's/unit's social and professional life with participation in meetings, seminars and PhD defenses
  • Maintains good working relationships with colleagues
  • Motivation for and ability to take part in the development both scientifically, pedagogically and in the department
  • Exponent of a scientific standard and knowledge sharing at the department
  • Engaged in career development and in creating opportunities for younger researchers in projects and other initiatives
