About the department

The Department of Psychology is an open, dynamic, and internationally oriented research and educational environment with a particular focus on the health science-oriented aspects of psychology. At the same time, the connections between health, clinical, and biological psychology are emphasized as central and prioritized research areas.

The department is organized into four units, six research groups, and a knowledge center. The organization aims to ensure that we can deliver a strong research-based education with an emphasis on the applied aspects of psychology and methodological competencies, as well as offer research-based professional advice and assessments to public and private institutions.

The department disseminates knowledge that contributes to solving psychology-related problems in the health and social sectors, in the education sector, and in private and public enterprises.

The vision for the Department of Psychology is to develop a distinct international profile for education and research that provides new knowledge about psychological conditions with the aim of understanding and improving people’s mental health.
