Laboratory for STEM Education and Learning

The object for the Laboratory is to create a new model for teacher’s education - both in primary and secondary school called “Den Syddanske Læreruddannelsesmodel” (the model of teacher’s education of Southern Denmark). The focus point is at first science and mathematics, but later on the collaboration between the tree partners will also address other areas.

A key part of the Laboratory for STEM Education and Learning is the development of the so-called laboratory model which consists of laboratories built around a local network consisting of an upper secondary school, primary schools in the area which feeds the upper secondary school with students and then again local child care centres which feeds the school with children. These institutions make their practice available. From the University and from the University Colleges PhD-, masters-, and bachelor students will be attached to these laboratories.

This laboratory environment will also enable research- and development work with involvement of education of pedagogues and school teachers (at the university colleges) and the education of upper secondary teachers (at the university) as well as relevant businesses in the region.

Professor Claus Michelsen from the University of Southern Denmark is head of the project.
