Dr Ussif Rashid Sumaila is visiting FAME this summer
Visiting Professor Dr Ussif Rashid Sumaila from The University of British Columbia is visiting Department of Environmental and Business Economics and Centre for Fisheries & Aquaculture Management & Economics (FAME) June 1 to July 15. Dr Ussif Rashid Sumaila is working with fisheries economics and management. At his stay he will mainly working on eco-system based fisheries management and game-theoretic modeling. Workshop in June on; “Game theoretic applications in fisheries”
June 4 to 6, 2009 FAME is pleased to announce workshop on; “Game theoretic applications in fisheries” at University of Southern Denmark, Esbjerg. Keynote Speakers: Rashid Sumalia, The University of British Columbia, Pedro Pintassilgo from University of Algarve in Portugal and Lone Grønbæk Kronbak, University of Southern Denmark. New Ph.D student at FAME - Welcome to Nguyen Viet Thanh
Nguyen Viet Thanh started his phd project September 2008 and the subject is Ecosystem based-fisheries management. Nguyen Viet Thanh got his Master degree (MSc) in International Fisheries Management (University of Tromso, Norway) in June, 2006. In the program, he was trained familiar with concepts and practical issues related to fisheries management. He also learnt a lot of experience of modeling the dynamic of exploited fish population when he worked with his master thesis. Thanh’s previous job includes five years working in the Ministry of Fisheries of Vietnam, and this job has given him experience on analyzing fisheries data as well as interacting with the local fishers. Ole Jakob Bjergfjord has completed his FAME Ph.D Project ‘Political risk in food production’
The main area for this PhD project was political risk within foodproduction, in particular aquaculture. This included exploring and modelling the importance of such risks, as well as studying methods for management of such risks which may improve the individual agent’s risk exposure as well as the use of resources in society at large.
