A Master of Science in Engineering in Operation Management (MSc in Eng. in Operation Management) is acquired after 2 years of full-time study.
An Industrial Master of Science in Engineering in Operation Management (Industrial MSc in Eng. in Operation Management) is acquired after 4 years of part-time study – while being employed at a company (or own company).
This gives the company access to the newest research-based knowledge within the fields of automation, digitalisation, process technology or production and supply chain.
The company can take advantage of the education by enhancing the qualifications of employees or hiring a new employee. The student will be specialised in either Manufacturing Technology or Global Supply Chain Management.
The programme is for free. The lessons will be scheduled for 1-2 days per week and be conducted physically at SDU, during day hours, as the Industrial MSc in Eng. student will follow the lessons of the full-time degree students.
For a successful progress, both time for studying and working must be prioritised.
Industrial Master of Science in Operation Management Q&A
Industrial Master of Science in Engineering (Industrial MSc in Eng.) offers education on part time for people in work.
The industrial MSc in Eng. is approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, in cases where under special circumstances the prolonged study time of the master’s degree has been permitted for MSc in Eng.This means the company has the opportunity to employ Master Students.
The time of study is extended from 2 to 4 years and requires documentation of employment in a relevant position, working at a minimum of 25 hours per week.
Educational specialisation
The student will specialise in either Manufacturing Technology or Global Supply Chain Management, wherethrough the company will receive the newest research-based knowledge.A Manufacturing Technology Candidate can support the production department by:
Automating the production units
Building completely or partly automated production systems
Leading international logistics across boarders
Building and leading a global production network
A Global Supply Chain Development Candidate contributes to the development of supply/sourcing, distribution, and the complete value chain. E.g.:
Product planning
Product development
Business development
Development of global supply chains
Project work during the studies can be cases from the company. This gives the company new competences to secure the future production.
Who is the programme targeted at?
The industrial MSc in Eng. is a unique offer for newly qualified Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science in Engineering, who would like to take a master’s degree while utilising their knowledge in practice at work.The (Industrial) Master of Science in Engineering is also an offer for upgrading of qualifications of employees with a relevant Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc in Eng.) or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng.)
Study-start at 1 of February or 1 of September.

At the last semesters the study will focus on projects in the company – often in collaboration with fellow students from the 2-year master programme, who naturally do not have a company to do the project for. This gives the company new competences to secure the future production.

Contract
Employment in a private or public company.The company employs a BSc in Eng. or BEng of minimum 25 hours per week. The contract must be signed latest 1st of September or 1st of February, if the study starts one of these dates.
In case of termination of contract during the studies, the student can find a new company or transfer at the full-time study, with the possibility of receiving SU.
The employment can be in your own well-established company or at a start-up.

Content and considerations
Content of the work should be relevant for the studies, and be arranged in a matter, where it is possible to follow the lessons, which experience shows, is possible.Experience also shows it is practically impossible to follow the lessons while working 37 hour per week. For this reason, a reduced work load during the 15 weeks a semester lasts is nessecary, which leaves space for participating in lessons and studying.
The lessons will be concentrated and scheduled for 1-2 days per week during normal study hours.
The terms of employment
The terms of employment will be as for other employees in the company. The salary rate must be in accordance with a normal engineering salary, with possibility to regulate with consideration for the reduced work week.
Experience shows it is practically impossible to follow the lessons while working 37 hour per week. For this reason, a reduced work week, which leaves space for participating in lessons and studying, is recommended.
The programme is free, as the equivalent MSc in Eng.
Please note that the student is not entitled to receive SU at the Industrial MSc in Eng.
