Vietnamese Delegation visits the SDU Center for Energy Informatics to Explore Energy-Efficient Innovations

Odense, Denmark – September 17th, 2024: On September 17th, the University of Southern Denmark hosted a delegation from Vietnam, to share current and concluded research projects within the focus areas of green transition and industrial energy use. The visit provided a significant opportunity for both parties to share knowledge and explore the opportunity for future collaboration.

The visit focused on several key research areas, including:

  • Data-driven best practices for energy-efficient operation of industrial processes: In short, this area highlights opportunities and challenges in transforming Denmark’s production industry towards reducing CO2 emissions. Additionally, it focuses on using IoT edge-computing infrastructure, cloud platforms, and digital twin validation to optimize production plant operations.
  • Digitalization and testing for dynamic and flexible operation of power-to-X components and systems: The delegation learned about the importance of investigating, identifying, and evaluating power-to-X’s integration with electricity markets. Among others, this presentation focused on power-to-X and its utilization for district heating, as well as potential assessment of power-to-X’s electricity market participation.
  • The application of digital twin technology in commercial greenhouses: This area introduced how a combination of Industry 4.0 and AI technologies can build a Digital Twin ecosystem that supports the deployment of research results to promote sustainable greenhouse production. The project itself investigates the energy and production effects of deploying Industry 4.0 and Digital Twin technologies in greenhouse production.

The delegation trip to SDU emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in addressing global energy challenges and highlights SDU’s role as an important player in energy-efficient innovations. Not only did the visit provide a platform for sharing best practices, it also laid the groundwork for an international network in the field of energy informatics, fostering potential future collaborations and innovations.

Possible relevant research themes are:

  • Energy sector transition
  • Sustainable cities and waste management
  • Food and agriculture

The Vietnamese delegation visit to SDU was a part of a larger study tour in Denmark, from September 15th-21st, primarily taking place in Copenhagen. The trip aimed to provide the delegation with a comprehensive understanding of Denmark’s leading practices in green transition and sustainable development.
