Academic admission and application requirements

There are specific requirements and recommendations for the design of the application, so it is a good idea to familiarise yourself thoroughly with these before submitting your application. It is also a good idea to check with the department you wish to join during your PhD programme to see whether and how your project can fit into the department’s research environment.

There are requirements for both your educational background and the application itself, so when applying for a PhD position you should be aware of the following:

Admission requirements

The qualification requirement is a relevant master’s degree with good results that has been completed before the application deadline.

Language skills

You must be fluent in English at a high level and be able to speak and write academic English fluently. Your English language skills should be listed on your CV.

General application requirements

These are the general requirements for the application, but each PhD position posting may have additional requirements for the application and project description, so always pay attention to the wording of the posting.

Documentation

The following documents must be attached to your application:

• Application form for enrolment at the doctoral school (download from the fact box)
• CV
• Project description of max. 5 pages incl. schedule (excl. bibliography) (2400 characters per page)
• Exam certificates incl. transcript of grades
• Up to 2 of your most relevant publications attached as separate PDF files. If any of your publications include co-authors, you must attach a co-author declaration as part of the relevant file

Language of application and translation of documents

You can submit your application in Danish, English, Swedish or Norwegian. If your diplomas are in another language, they must be translated into one of the four languages listed, and both the translation and a copy of the original diploma must be attached.
