Biography
Jasmin Mecinovic is a Professor in Chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark. He received the BSc degree in Chemistry with highest distinction from the University of Ljubljana (2005). He was a Newton-Abraham predoctoral fellow, and received the PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oxford (2009) under the supervision of Professor Christopher J. Schofield, FRS. Subsequently, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, where he worked in the group of Professor George M. Whitesides.
Jasmin started his independent research career as an Assistant Professor at Radboud University in 2011. He was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark in 2018 and promoted to Professor in 2023. He has been an ERC Starting Grant holder (2017-2022), a Lundbeck Foundation Ascending Investigator (2021-2026) and a Novo Nordisk Foundation NERD Investigator (2024-2030). The research in his group is centered around fundamental aspects of genuinely important biomolecular recognition and biocatalysis that play key roles in human health and disease.
