Associate Professor Hamid Reza Shaker Delivered a Lecture on "Leveraging Digitalization for Enhanced Asset Maintenance and Management in the Energy Sector" as Part of the HVL Data Science Webinar Series, Co-hosted by Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and IEEE.
Here is the summary of talk: “The digital revolution has brought about transformative changes in the global power and energy systems, presenting unprecedented opportunities to address crucial challenges such as climate change and the growing demand for electrification. Through the utilization of digital data and advanced analytics, organizations can achieve cost savings in operations and maintenance, optimize power plant and network efficiency, minimize unplanned outages and downtime, and maximize the lifespan of valuable assets. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the adoption of digitally-enabled measures could potentially result in substantial savings of around USD 80 billion per year from 2016 to 2040.
To fully harness the benefits of digitalization and embrace this new era, it is essential to explore novel methods and strategies for digital asset maintenance and management within energy systems and infrastructure. This talk aimed to provide an overview of recent developments in this field, offering insights into innovative approaches and technologies that can drive efficiency and effectiveness. Attendees had the opportunity to gain knowledge about the latest trends and practical considerations, enabling them to navigate the ongoing digital transformation in the energy sector.”
