In the master’s degree programme in Pharmacy, you build on your bachelor’s degree, and you will, among other things, learn about the development process of new medicines, from pharmaceutical screening to final registration and marketing.

You will also gain insight into the mechanisms of action of medicinal products at cellular level and organ level. In addition, you will learn about rational pharmacotherapy for the most common diseases, including choice of medicines, dosage, important side effects and interactions between medicinal products.

Clinical Pharmacy or Technological Pharmacy?

The master’s degree programme in Pharmacy offers you the choice between two programme profiles:

Clinical Pharmacy is for students who want to specialise their knowledge in the use of medicinal products.

Technological Pharmacy is for students who want to specialise their knowledge in development, production and quality assurance of medicinal products.

The academic standards are high regardless of which profile you choose, and you acquire insight into the latest research aimed at understanding and solving pharmaceutical and chemical-biological problems. Both profiles give graduates the title of pharmacist.

Many pharmacists work in the pharmaceutical industry, where they typically work in the development, production or quality assurance of medicines.

Other pharmacists work in pharmacies, where they advise and inform patients about the use of drugs, including dosage, effects and side effects. In addition, an increasing number of pharmacists are getting jobs in the healthcare sector — primarily in hospital pharmacies, where they work to ensure optimal use of medicines.

As a pharmacist, you can also work in public boards, directorates and councils, where you will typically have to deal with ethical and societal issues in the field of pharmaceuticals and other parts of healthcare services.
