Companies in and around Sonderborg are world leading within a range of technical areas and are rapidly growing. To remain competitive, these companies are asking for well-educated engineers with competencies within mechanics, electronics and mechatronics.
During the last 20 years, SDU Sonderborg has had research and unique study programmes within mechatronics. Now we extend by further competencies within mechanics (CIM) and electronics (CIE).
Centre for Industrial Mechanics (CIM) has been established with donations from Bitten & Mads Clausen Fond, LINAK, Region of Southern Denmark and Sønderborg Municipality.
Within the last few years, companies’ demand for access to knowledge, facilities and cooperation has changed focus. Today, there is a larger need for an increased interaction between complex electronic and mechanical components with a higher degree of autonomy and automation. Moreover, an understanding of advanced systems is needed, complemented by the demand for profound professional competences in the underlying disciplines electronics and mechanics.
Today, mechatronic products must be smaller, digital, include embedded systems and software and have larger capacities. The products need to be intelligent, efficient, reliable (green) and competitive in terms of price.
With outstanding research, education and industrial collaboration, CIM will support regional companies in keeping their leading position by education engineers who bring along the requested competencies for a fast development of reliable smart systems. By this, we promote the sustainable development and green transition that the companies and society are generally focusing on.
