Center for Industrial Electronic inaugurate EMC-lab

The Center for Industrial Electronic (CIE) at SDU will be an international leader within the field of researching emissions that come from power electronics. An EMC-lab has been established in the effort to reach this goal. The lab will be inaugurated on the 27th August from 15:00-17:00 – everyone is welcome.

Companies in Northern Germany and Region Southern Denmark will no longer require route-guidance to find their way to Århus or Hamburg when needing to undertake fieldwork MC-test. Companies can now enjoy the shorter trip to Sønderborg thanks to the brand new EMC with state-of-the-art equipment that will be inaugurated at CIE.

In the EMC-laboratory it will be possible to perform the most common EMC tests. In addition, CIE have developed their own near-field scanner for various diagnostics and advanced research. The flagship of the EMC Lab is a compact fully anechoic chamber for radiated emission measurements, allowing measurements up to 26 GHz.

Additionally, the chamber is equipped with a 3D turn table for antenna measurements and, hence, it is also possible to measure antenna radiation pattern and measurements according to EU Radio Equipment Directive, which becomes more and more important along with the development of IoT.

The new lab is a big step forward for the EMC research at CIE. At the same time, it is possible for industry to perform tests in the lab by either renting the lab for DIY tests, or for tests performed by specialised CIE staff, says lector Morten Sørensen.

The new EMC-lab will officially be open on the 27th August where there will be an open house from 15:00 to 17:00. It will be possible to have a chat with CIE’s researchers. Companies have the opportunity to see the new facilities as well as hear about how they can reap the benefits of the new laboratory.
