ProDatos Workshop to Address Pandemic-Induced Demographic Data Challenges in Latin America
The Latin American Population Association's Network of Projections and Demographic Data Production (ProDatos) is organizing a workshop to address the challenges faced in demographic data collection and analysis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has significantly affected fertility, mortality, and migration trends in Latin America, while also disrupting scheduled population censuses and the recording of birth and death registration records. The workshop aims to discuss these issues, share lessons learned, and provide training on techniques for evaluating and analyzing population data using R software, particularly in scenarios of incomplete data. The event is a response to the urgent need for robust, timely, and geographically disaggregated demographic data for effective population estimates and projections.
