Reorganisation of OPEN's management structure
1st of May a new management structure was implemented in OPEN
As a research infrastucture at Odense University Hospital (OUH) and Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), OPEN was established in 2008 as a part of the research strategy for both organisations. Since then, OPEN has been organisationally placed under Department of Clinical Immunology (KIA), OUH with a research component under Department of Clinical Research, SDU. OPEN is located in the buildings of SDU (J. B. Winsløws Vej 9a). Torben Barington has been the head of OPEN since the establishment, as he is head as well as head of research in OPEN.
Since 2008 OPEN has grown significantly and met increasing expectations at the revision of the research strategy in 2012 and 2016. OPEN now supports more than 360 research projects and has more than 500.000 samples in the biobank. This means an increasing number of employees and an increased complexity, demanding an expansion of the manager's working hours along with a change in the management structure suitable to run OPEN in the challenges of the future.
The changes in the management structure of OPEN became effective 1st of May 2017 and includes:
- Manager Torben Barington increases his working hours at OPEN from 25 % to 40 % of a full-time job
- Datamanager Peter Bjødstrup Jensen is now functional manager of datamanagement and IT
- Research secretary Janni Brødbæk is now functional manager of project coordination, administration and personnel
With this strengthening of OPEN's management, OPEN is prepared to meet the challenges ahead with more projects to come and more "goods in stock".
