Apply for support for biobanking
OPEN support for establishment of biobank for future research – Application deadline September 30th 2015
Based on OUH's research strategy and OPEN's role as facilitator for clinical research at Odense University Hospital and Institute of Clinical Research, OPEN hereby announces the 5th call for applications for financial support to cover laboratory costs when establishing a biobank for future not yet defined research. OPEN may be applied for 50 % of the cost, not exceeding DKK 100,000.
Applications are judged by the following criteria:
- The biobank contains/will contain biological material, which are not analyzed in the current research project
- The project has potential, as an enriched cohort2 with new collaboration partners for the usage of the biobank
- The biobank and project is/will be an OPEN project
- The biobank is/will be established after march 31st 2015, and prior applications for financial support from OPEN to the biobank, has not been made
Applications from projects, which are not already an OPEN project, must include:
- Email with the title: Support for establishment of a biobank for future research
- OPEN application form
- Layman's summary
- Project description/protocol, in which the establishment of a biobank for future not yet defined research is apparent
- Budget with information of other funding applications/grants
- The applicant’s CV
- Relevant permissions/approvals from Danish Data Protection Agency under the regional permit and from the Research Ethics Committee if the biobank for future not yet defined research is established in relation to a concrete research project, if these applications/permissions already exist
- Contract with Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Pharmacology in regards to the biobank sampling, if it already exist
Applications from already existing OPEN projects must include:
- Email with the title: Support for establishment of a biobank for future research OP_XX (the OP_XX number can be found on the signed license agreement)
- Updated budget with information of other applications/grants
- Updated project description/protocol, if changes has been made
- New permissions/approvals from the Research Ethics Committee and Danish Data Protection Agency via the Region of Southern Denmark, if such has been made, for instant application for extension or additions to the original permit

1A biobank established independent of a research project, the biobank collects/stores biological material for future not yet defined research within an overall disease area. Or a biobank established as part of a planned/ongoing research project, where parts of the collected biological material are not analyzed in the project, but collected/stored for future not yet defined research within an overall disease area.
2A clinical study seeks or is open to new scientific collaborators, whereby new scientific questions can be answered on the same group of patients/subjects.
