The research of the centre is focused on these four areas:
- Modern Military History
- The Cultural History of the Cold War
- Secret Service Activities
- The History of Russia, Eastern and Central Europe
The centre works to strengthen the research in these areas by a thorough application effort. In addition it is our ambition to arrange a number of seminars and conferences within the framework of our centre.
Are you interested in the centre, or do you have ideas for a project that you would like to realise within the framework of Centre for Cold War Studies, we would like to hear from you. We are of course also ready to answer any questions you might have.
Th history of the centre
The background for the initiative was the desire to create an extensive network of Danish and international scholars, and on the basis of this to establish a setting where scholars and Ph.D.-students (historians, Slavonic specialists, German specialists, men of letters, cultural and social researchers) can work on their projects on a short or long-term basis.
In December of 2005 we made an application to the minister of research. Herein we argued for the establishment of a network or research centre, which could make use of the synergy between scholars, an open procedure of employment in line with the tradition of the universities, for independent research projects where the individual scholar should have the responsibility and for the interpretation that the centre should be a catalyst in the debate of this essential subject.
