I am educated in biology from Aarhus University giving me a diverse insight in general physiology from anything between flies and humans. Later I received my PhD in biomedicine in the laboratory of Per Svenningsen at the Department of Cardiovascular and Renal Disease at the University of Southern Denmark. Here, I have focused on extracellular vesicles and their contribution to development of acute kidney injury. We developed a new transgene mouse model that enabled us to isolate tissue-specific extracellular vesicles in vivo, to obtain a better future understanding of the biological role of extracellular vesicles. Furthermore, we illustrated that extracellular vesicle secretion rates correlate with mitochondrial production of reactive oxygen species.

In 2023 I started at KMEB as a staff scientist/laboratory manager involved in different projects. Currently, I am collaborating with Alexander Rauch to develop a CRISPR/CAS9 in vivo model enabling us to knockout or overexpression different genes of interest, besides other projects to support a great scientific output at KMEB.

In my spare time, I enjoy spearfishing, football, and yoga, but I’ve also recently become a dad developing an interest in small tickly wiggly toys with my daughter.
