Bridging clinical and molecular endocrinology
The Molecular Endocrinology Department (KMEB) was established in 2001 as the cellular and molecular research unit of Department of Endocrinology, University Hospital, Odense. Endocrine diseases influence molecules, cells, animals and humans as well as populations and ecosystems. The main focus of KMEB is to integrate clinical endocrinology research with basic molecular and cellular approaches, to study clinically relevant research questions at the cellular and molecular levels and most importantly to to develop new therapies to be tested in clinical trials.
The department international research scientists investigate causes, consequences and treatments of endocrine diseases by incorporating information generated across multiple research methodologies including cutting-edge stem cell and other cellular and molecular studies, mouse genetic models, high resolution imaging, bioinformatics and observational clinical studies and interventional clinical trials.
