I come from Greece and I moved to Denmark in 2017. I finished my second Master in Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, at the University of Southern Denmark. During my master I investigated the role of sterol transport between model and cell membranes by Aster proteins. The overall goal of this project was to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying non-vesicular sterol transport by Aster proteins. In the first part, I studied how Aster proteins bind fluorescent analogs of cholesterol, and by which molecular mechanisms they transport such sterols between membranes. The second goal of my project was to establish if these proteins enhance non-vesicular sterol transport between the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum and endo-lysosomes. I am very excited that I am working currently as a Research Assistant at KMEB with my main focus on bioinformatic analysis in different ongoing projects.
When I have some spare time, I like to go swimming, listen to music and dance . I enjoy being physically active, living a healthy lifestyle and good wine.Atenisa Caci
