Research on relocation of government jobs presented in Brussels

A national rural conference focused on rural development. CLF research was on the programme.

In June, the European Commission brought together politicians, authorities and other stakeholders for 'The Rural Pact Conference' in Brussels.

The conference is a part of the EU Commission's vision to create stronger and more connected, prosperous and resilient rural areas - a vision that has resulted, among other things, in a so-called Rural Pact.

The aim of the conference was to gather commitment to achieving the long-term vision for the rural areas of the EU, and participants were asked to contribute to shaping the direction of the Rural Pact.

At the conference, Torben Dall Schmidt presented the results of his study on Relocation of government jobs, which he has done together with Gunnar Lind Haase Svendsen, Jens Fyhn Lykke Sørensen and Peter Sandholt Jensen.

In the study, the researchers examine the effect that the relocation of government jobs has had on local labour markets.
