At the conference in transforming university education with a focus on sustainability, climate change and the green transition, Professor Connie Svabo will contribute to the morning's presentations and panel discussion.

Connie Svabo's presentation "Creative Pragmatics: Developing Wicked Scientists for a Wicked World" focuses on the crucial role universities play in equipping students with agency, knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to address multiple crises, such as climate change and biodiversity loss, and to contribute to a sustainable future.

Connie Svabo's talk examines how Creative Pragmatics can serve as a transformative approach to STEM education by enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration and fostering creativity. By balancing deep disciplinary knowledge with transversal skills, Creative Pragmatics prepares students to tackle unpredictable challenges and effectively communicate across disciplines. This approach aligns with EU education policy goals, which emphasize the development of competencies necessary for navigating complex work environments. Drawing on insights from the forthcoming book Creative Pragmatics through Active Learning in STEM Education, the presentation argues for the integration of interdisciplinary learning as a means to empower students to become leaders in the green transition, developing what we call "wicked scientists" for a wicked world.

Other speakers and participants in the morning panel include Professor Susan Wright and Associate Professor Jonas Andreasen Lysgaard, both from the Danish School of Education, Aarhus University.

The afternoon will also feature presentations and a panel discussion, with contributions from Anna Hinderer and Vero Pinzger, Humboldt University, Berlin, Associate Dean Olav Geil, Aalborg University, and Professor Anders Svensson, Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen.
