I have broad research interests ranging from analytical chemistry to drug delivery. Specifically, I am interested in the nutrient transporters across the kingdoms of life. Our special emphasis is on identifying novel substrates and deorphanize the secondary active transporters. Several of these transporters are regulated under diseased conditions and understanding the molecular mechanisms of these transporters is essential for effective drug absorption. I am also interested in database development and utilization of transporters to develop cell factories for sustainable production of pharmaceuticals. Our experimental portfolio involves mass spectrometry based transportomics, functional assays, structure biology, biophysical characterization and bioinformatics.
