Haley's past research has looked to quantify how the interacting effects of human management of landscapes and climate change will affect water quality using environmental modeling. Specifically, Haley has employed the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) to quantify nutrient runoff from agricultural landscapes and identify pathways for reducing nutrient runoff under various climate scenarios. Much of her work has focused on engaging key stakeholders (e.g., governmental and non-governmental organizations, landowners) on modeling projects to improve the relevance and use of model results. Additionally, some of her past work has integrated environmental models into user-friendly tools for decision making.
