OPEN is looking to recruit a biostatistician/statistician

Do you want to build biostatistical skills in a clinical and epidemiological research environment?

OPEN offers centralized handling and management of biological material, biobanks and patient data in order to support the clinical and epidemiological research at departments and research units at Odense University Hospital and the Institute of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark. OPEN is a rapidly expanding unit and we therefore wish to strengthen our efforts within clinical-epidemiological and statistic data analysis from research databases and through coupling of national register data (Statistics Denmark, the National Health registries, SSI – Statens Serum Institute) in specific research projects and in relation to development of methods.

You will, in close collaboration with OPEN’s clinical-epidemiological staff and data managers, conduct and supervise biostatistical analyses from OPEN’s research databases and the national health registries for use in specific research projects, and contribute to reporting and publishing research results. Furthermore, you are expected to participate as a lecturer at OPEN's course activities as well as to provide consulting assistance for OPEN’s clients/collaborators within the field of biostatistics, to enable the researchers to conduct the statistical analyses required. At OPEN data management is conducted on an SQL-server and Stata is the main statistics software package; this is also the case for health data from Statistics Denmark.

This is a newly established position and you will be provided with a great opportunity to put your personal mark on our biostatistical environment. Depending on your interests and background, individual competence development and conduct of own research will be possible, for example within method development. There are also good opportunities for knowledge sharing and sparring with other biostatisticians in other research environments at the University. Furthermore, for the right candidate, a part time affiliation to the University of Southern Denmark as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor will be possible as well as a part time employment, instead of full time, is possible.

We expect that…

• you have a relevant master’s degree in statistics, bio statistics or similar and preferably a PhD or comparable scientific qualifications within your field
• you have the ability to collaborate with many different professions
• you have experience with working with data from health data, health research or comparable issues
• you (preferably) have experience with epidemiological research based on data from health registries and surveys
• you have strong competencies in both written and spoken English
